About Project Backpack

Project Backpack is an Incorporated, youth-led nonprofit based in Hopewell Junction, New York. We have a blog, a monthly podcast, special bag packing events, and drives such as our Pencil Drive or Water Bottle Drive.

Mission Statement and Goals

Project Backpack's mission is to collect and distribute a year's worth of school supplies in a lightly used backpack to students with a low socioeconomic household income.

Backpack Workshop

This is from our very first Backpack Workshop. Our members brought in plenty of supplies and we packed each backpack with everything a child needs in the school year.

900 Pencils Donated

During our recent Pencil Drive, we collected and distributed over 900 pencils to elementary teachers in need.

Our Hardworking Members

During our Backpack Workshops, we fill lightly-used backpacks with donated folders, notebooks, and full pencil cases.
